August 9th and August 10th

The morning of Tuesday 9th August was our final visit to Puakahaela preschool and the morning of Wednesday 10th August was the concluding visit to Ighalahgama preschool. The team as usual took the students for games including bean bag races and allowed the children to play on the space hoppers. Following this the teachers at both villages had an array of food waiting for the Durham students as a way of saying thanks for all their help over the past six weeks. Furthermore before departing the team had gathered equipment to leave with the villages in order for them to continue to enhance their sporting capabilities which was very welcomed. Some of the equipment left included, bean bags, space hoppers, skipping ropes, cones, footballs and whistles. On leaving the villages the children sang songs stating how they would miss us and the teachers had a tear in their eye which was truly touching as it showed our work over the past six weeks had made a real difference. All the Durham team became very attached to the children in the villages and thoroughly enjoyed working with them on this unforgettable experience.
