Today we got home at 7:30pm after a 5 hour drive back from Arugam Bay. We travelled to Arugam on Friday afternoon and arrived around 8:00pm. Dan came with us after some deliberation as to whether he was well enough to endure the trip. We got into our rooms for the night and tuk-tuked it into town to eat some food. We ate at a cranking little shack along the strip, waited 2 hours for our pizzas, but rested in the ambience of the sea air, mellow lighting and relaxed seats. The next morning Jonny and Matt got up early to check out the morning surf, and browse hotels (as we had only booked one night at our first hotel). They found and booked one for the students and sorted a hotel for the drivers as well. Then the group settled into their new hotel and were attempting to surf by 10:00am. For a bunch of sports students you might have thought they would be good at surfing, however they weren’t. Jonny and Beth picked it up eventually by the second day. Dan got better and popped out in the sun a few times over the weekend. The whole group enjoyed their trip with Western food, sun, sea and surf. Back to work on Tuesday.
