August 4th

At 8.00am we took fitness with a slightly smaller group than usual which meant we did not have to coach them in two teams. Therefore, all the participating students were able to benefit from extra coaches. The fitness session was based at the outdoor auditorium to enable sprinting up steps and plyometric exercises.

The sports coached were racket sports; tennis and badminton. During tennis coaching we used some tips about hand eye co-ordination and flexibility given to us by a former Sri Lankan, Davis Cup tennis player, who we met at the Olympic Celebration.

Later the group had an interesting experience as we were given the opportunity to coach the children from the University pre school. We taught them how to swim in the baby pool using a lot of the donated water equipment (mainly floats).

It was a good day and the group continues to coach well in both small teams and as a unit.
