July 13th

Today fitness started at 08:00. Cameron Henderson worked for an hour on aerobic fitness and Beth lead the team for circuit training, working on core and aerobic fitness.
From 09:30 to 12:00 the second and third year Sabaragamuwa students were then taught by Cam and six Durham students on how to use equipment and the environment to complete circuit training, adapting fitness training to become interesting, fun, hard work, technique improving and enjoyable. They were thought techniques and variations with ladders, hurdles, skipping ropes, how to use the environment they had been given. This was a very productive session, giving the Sri Lankan students lots of material and ideas to work with in the future.

Meanwhile, Rob Cramb, Dan and Jess went to Igahigalighama school from 08:00 to 12:00 to visit the students and teach games (such as parachute games, bean bags and balls), English and drawing.

Katie, Jonny, Kirsty and Beth visited Pambahinna from 2:30 to 4:30 to teach local students ranging from ages 8-14 English. Around 100 children turned up to use the community centre donated by Durham University, which shows just how much of an impact the money raised and the students sent out here makes to the communities of Sri Lanka.

In the evening the team had a farewell meal with Rob and Cam as they leave on Thursday 14th and the team enjoyed some chips for a change.

Stay classy from Sri Lanka,
