3rd July (written by Nicole)

Started today with a typical Sri Lankan breakfast at Sarvodaya head quarters, our first Sri Lankan breakfast. It was quite similar to an evening meal in terms of quantity.Mr Mandula then gave us a quick breifing and we net some more of the Sarvodaya team. Afterwards we had time to visit the deaf school which is one of the schemes running at the site. We were allowed to visist the classrooms and were also honoured to watch a dance that the children were learning. It was soon time to pile into the bus to take us to Moon Bridge. We Was met by Mr Silva who had come along to pick us up. The journey was a few hours long but we stoped to have refreshent and toilet breaks which were needed. Shortly after our last stop we got back on track along the side of the coast. Here we saw some of the devastation which the Tsunami had caused. There was alot of debris and buildings that were no longer habitable. It was very upsetting to see and made us think how much of a difference one building could make. Beyond the ruble we did see the gorgeous beaches though and the ocean. We arrived at Moon bridge and were very happy with our accomodation as we had all been slightly worried. The view from the back of the guest house though completely took all our breaths away. Many of us were left speechless the idean ocean was literally our back garden it really couldnt get much better than that. Surrounded by palm trees also which we may learn to climb although not sure the insurance will cover it!Later in the evening we had a lovely meal and then had some group time on the porches of our room. We began with the book ‘Games! Games! Games!’ which kept us amused for hours. Eventually the days travelling had caught up with us and we all made our way to bed.
