30th July

We arranged today to meet the Drama group to further our discussion as to how to produce a play. We met them late morning after saying goodbye to one of the third year students who had been a true friend to us while we have been here at the University. We started the session with a few warm up exercise which really helped them to relax and feel comfortable around us as we were also taking part. After warm ups we did a read through of the banquet seen In Shakespeare’s Macbeth which they had chosen themselves. There pronunciation was really good and we were very impressed at their high level of English even though they were only first years. After reading through we put our drama skills into practice and acted out the scene with us just prompting them on actions. It worked really well and they showed a lot of confidence. Later on we did some improvisation to help them think of ideas for their own play. They found this very amusing as did we. We thoroughly enjoyed the session and was sad that it was the last we hope our efforts can be continued with the help of the next group.Overall we have really enjoyed our stay here at Sabaragamuwa University we have socialized well with the students and hope we have given them practice with their conversational skills. It has been an enjoyable 12 days and hope the next group have just a good a time as we have.
