Today held a lot of firsts. Our first day in Sri Lanka, our first meeting with Lucky Pieris from Rotary Sri Lanka, our very first meal of rice and curry (too hot for some!) and for most of us, our first experience of real tropical heat, which takes some getting used to.While some of us slept at the YWCA to recover from the 11 hour flight, the rest of us rode tuk-tuks (another first) to see two local temples.The first was beautifully situated in the middle of a lake, and the second displayed the smallest statue of the Buddha in the world.This evening Lucky took us to a meeting of Rotary Sri Lanka where we met with Joy and David, and were treated to an evening of interesting talks, even more interesting jokes, and an overwhelmingly warm welcome.
