Thursday 19th August by Abi

Unfortunately as university hostel accomodation was no longer available for us to use while in Colombo, we were the first group to be lucky enough to have the use of a house owned by Lali in the outskirts of the city. It was situated in a place called Watarakka and we had to catch a bus to get to the university which took about an hour and a half. Although the journey was lengthy, it was worth it as the house was comfortable and out of the bustling, noisy, hot city centre. We were also very lucky in that Lali had business in Colombo during the week and so drove us up and got us settled. Lali to the rescue yet again!!We arrived early afternoon on Monday and after setting out our mat-on-the-floor beds which were suprisingly comfortable, we made a short excursion into Colombo in order to try to sort out a visa for Viv. The rest of the group consisted of Lauren, Liam and Will, as well as myself, Abi.
