Thursday 29th July by Joe

The ‘Colombo experience’ certainly was something that shall not leave my memory for a long time. I was met by the amiable ‘Deen’ character who turned out to be one of the friendliest, funniest and personable people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Likewise, the lads in the university hostel were similarly approachable and likeable; questions and answers were the order of the day in the hostel, as I was asked questions regarding university in the UK, CV advice and even dissertation writing advice (I was particularly stunned when questioned about the latter).Days consisted of a relatively early start, followed by two busses into campus (arts faculty), lectures and the inevitable socialising that ensues within the student lifestyle. I genuinely enjoyed my week at Colombo and look forward to returning in the upcoming weeks. The week’s climax saw our departure for the ascent of Adam’s Peak. We stayed at the White House Friday night, before venturing up the mountain around 6am Saturday morning. The climb proved tough, but equally as rewarding and the tea I received at the summit was greatly appreciated. Our return to Moon Bridge proved long and tiring, consisting of four long bus journeys in total. We eventually arrived back in the early hours of Sunday morning, to collapse into our glorious beds. A week well spent…
